Namibia stunned Sri Lanka in the 2022 T20 World Cup curtain raiser, sending a clear warning that in a big tournament no team should be considered as favourite.

Namibia defeated the Asian champions Sri Lanka by 55 runs in the first round Group A of the ICC event. However, Namibia all-rounder Jan Frylinck stated that what his team achieved was about what they thought they could do.

“I’m a little bit speechless at the moment. What we’ve just achieved is above what we thought we could do and I’m very just excited at this point in time,” Frylinck said while speaking to the broadcaster after the match.
